Police secure a seven-day remand extension for a 62-year-old man suspected of involvement in the Desa Palma IED explosion for further investigations.

SEREMBAN: Police have secured a seven-day extension of the remand order for a man suspected of involvement in an improvised explosive device (IED) explosion at Desa Palma, Nilai.

Negeri Sembilan police chief Datuk Alzafny Ahmad said the order against the 62-year-old man, lasting until January 10, was issued by a magistrate at Tuanku Ja’afar Hospital.

“The extension is to allow further investigations to be carried out under Sections 307 and Section 435 of the Penal Code and Section 4 of the Corrosive and Explosive Substances and Offensive Weapons Act,” he said in a statement.

The suspect was arrested on December 27 in Batang Benar, Nilai, with burn injuries to his face, body, hands and legs.

He is believed to possess technical knowledge and specialised skills in fabricating explosives, based on devices and equipment seized from his rented house.
