KOTA BHARU, Nov 3 - The suspect in Saturday’s (November 1) fatal shooting of a Malaysian man in Sungai Golok, Narathiwat, who is a former import player for the Kelantan football team, has surrendered to the Thai police.

Kelantan police chief Datuk Mohd Yusoff Mamat said they were informed unofficially about the 31-year-old suspect’s surrender to the Thai authorities.

“So far, we have been informed unofficially that the suspect turned himself in to the Thai police yesterday.

“We are still waiting for an official report from the Thai authorities regarding his arrest,” he told Bernama when contacted today.

Yusoff added that the case will be handled entirely by Thai authorities as the incident occurred in Thailand and the suspect is a Thai national.

“Initial investigations revealed that the suspect had previously played as a goalkeeper for Kelantan FC in 2019, after representing the Kelantan President’s Cup squad in 2014,” he said.

Yesterday, Bernama reported that a Malaysian man was shot dead at 7pm at his house in Sungai Golok town on Saturday.
