A man was shot and injured in Serendah, Selangor, after he defied police orders to stop and instead rammed his car into police vehicles. The incident, which occurred around 4:40 p.m., involved a man in his 30s whose suspicious behavior had caught the attention of police officers from the Criminal Investigation Division of the Mualim district police headquarters in Perak.
Hulu Selangor police Chief Superintendent Ahmad Faizal Tahrim provided details of the incident, stating that the suspect’s car was spotted acting suspiciously by a team of officers. When the suspect stopped his car in front of food stalls in the Serendah area, police attempted to block his path using two vehicles. However, the suspect attempted to escape by ramming into the police vehicles in a dangerous manner.
"In response to this threat, police fired several shots at the suspect’s vehicle," Superintendent Ahmad Faizal said. "After securing the situation, it was discovered that the suspect had sustained an abdominal injury from the gunshots and was immobilized."
The injured suspect was promptly transported to Selayang Hospital, where he was reported to be in stable condition. Upon further review, it was revealed that the suspect had a significant criminal history, including 14 past records related to crime and drugs.
Superintendent Ahmad Faizal also confirmed that the suspect has been remanded for seven days, until June 28, to facilitate a comprehensive investigation under Section 307 of the Penal Code, which pertains to attempted murder and carries severe penalties upon conviction.
