Suspected drug traffickers held in Lahad Datu

LAHAD DATU: Police arrested two men, suspected involved in drug trafficking activities at a plantation in Jalan Lahad Datu-Kunak, here, on Saturday.

District Police Chief, ACP Dzulbaharin Ismail said, the suspects were detained following 1pm raid on a hut believed used as a drug trafficking spot.

During the raid, both men attempted to escaped but successfully detained by the team.

“Result of inspection found six translucent plastics containing Syabu weighing 57.01 grams, a modified tools to consume drugs and a scissor inside a black sling bag on one of the suspects.

“Inspection on the other suspect found nothing illegal, however, the suspect was tested positive for taking Amphetamine and Methamphetamine,” he said.

According to Dzulbaharin, the seizures were estimated worth RM6,271.10. His men also seized a Yamaha LC135 during the raid.

Both suspects aged 25 and 36 without valid identification documents were working as labour.

The case would be investigated under Section 39B of the Dangerous Drug Act 1952.
