KENINGAU: A local suspected of stealing vehicles was arrested Sunday night.
Keningau District Police Chief Supt Yampil Anak said following interrogation, and guided by the suspect, police discovered a red Isuzu Space Cab pickup truck in a palm oil plantation area in Kampung Membulu, Sook.
He said inspections found the pickup had been reported stolen under Tambunan Report No. 540/26, involving a vehicle with registration number SS8750E that was reported missing from in front of a house in Kampung Maras-Karas, Tambunan at 7.30pm on March 31, 2026.
“Further inspection at the same location also uncovered a Yamaha 135LC motorcycle, a white Liteace van, and a red Perodua Kenari car without registration plates.
Checks revealed that all three vehicles had been reported stolen in cases in Keningau, Penampang, and Papar,” he said.
He added that initial questioning revealed the suspect admitted to stealing the Isuzu Space Cab pickup with the original registration number SS8750E, as reported in Tambunan Report No. 540/26.
“The suspect also admitted involvement with five other accomplices who are still at large in vehicle theft cases around Keningau, Papar, and Penampang,” he added.
The case is being investigated under Section 379A of the Penal Code.
