
POLICE are actively tracking down the driver of a sport utility vehicle involved in a fatal hit-and-run incident that claimed the lives of two women and left a teenager injured along Jalan Pekan Baru on Friday evening.
North Klang district police chief S Vijaya Rao said the crash occurred at about 7.40pm when the SUV, travelling from Jalan Meru towards Bandar Baru Klang, allegedly lost control before ploughing into three pedestrians standing along the left shoulder of the road.
The driver subsequently fled the scene immediately after the collision.
“Two local women aged 57 and 62, who were sisters, were pronounced dead at the scene after suffering severe head injuries, while another victim, the son of one of the women, sustained minor injuries,” he said in a statement on Saturday.
Police said the surviving victim, a 17-year-old secondary school student, would be called in to provide a statement as part of ongoing investigations.
Authorities are urging members of the public with information relating to the incident to contact investigating traffic officer Inspector Ahmad Fadzli Abdullah at 017-5843860 or report to the nearest police station.
“Members of the public are also advised to always drive responsibly and comply with road regulations for the safety of all,” Vijaya Rao added.
The case is being investigated under Section 41(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987. - May 16, 2026
