In a major push towards the “TB-Free Gurugram” campaign, Suzuki Motorcycle India Private Limited on Tuesday launched a tuberculosis (TB) screening, care and nutritional support project under its Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) initiative at the Primary Health Centre (PHC) in Palra village.
The project would be implemented by GLRA India in collaboration with the National Tuberculosis Elimination Programme (NTEP), Gurugram, and aims to strengthen TB detection, treatment and patient support services across the district.
Officials said the initiative would cover three major TB units — Badshahpur, Bhondsi and Bhangrola — and focus on ensuring timely diagnosis, improved healthcare access, nutritional support and uninterrupted treatment for TB patients.
As part of the project, two Designated Microscopy Centres (DMCs) would be upgraded, while one new DMC will be established to improve testing facilities. Around 325 malnourished and economically weaker TB patients would also receive nutritional assistance under the programme.
The initiative will also include community-level TB screening drives, contact tracing, awareness campaigns and training programmes for healthcare workers.
Authorities said the project was expected to indirectly benefit thousands of families across nearly 90 villages in Gurugram district, while strengthening healthcare delivery at 11 Primary Health Centres and three TB units.
Addressing the programme, District Tuberculosis Officer Dr Yogendra said timely diagnosis, regular treatment and nutritional support were critical to eliminating tuberculosis.
“Community participation and awareness are essential to achieve the goal of a TB-Free India,” he said.
