It's a breezy cool Saturday when we chose to sit on the verandah of Yellow Brick Road at Bukit Damansara looking across to UOA building partially hidden by tall tress swaying in the early morning air.

We had about an hour or so of tennis earlier and decided to abandon our old breakfast haunts and thought about taking the Yellow Brick Road that was originally at Plaza Batai now relocated in a beautifully renovated building that was once occupied by HELP University a few years ago. Incidentally I did teach there part time for a few years as an Adjunct Professor.

It was really a cool morning, temperature wise, reminding Lambert our tennis "champion" of his Spring days in Europe.

The wind was blowing the leaves on trees in front of us. The video clip below gives you an idea how breezy it was that Saturday morning on the first week of March.

The waitress arrived.

Lambert and his tennis partner ordered burger for breakfast at 9 in the morning. Anyway, the burgers not only looked good but they were delicious. I tried one of their oversized-skin-on fries with Moroccan spices.

I must tell you that the fries were fresh, crispy and so tasty. Not like those skinny overcoooked fries you get from the fast food joints.

The burger was freshly made too, accompanied by pickles, two large onion rings, a slice of pineapple, salad, sunnyside fried egg and tasty dressing.

For these two tennis buddies it's their lunch at nine, or perhaps an early Saturday brunch. They loved the burger. Lambert's plate was clean when he was through.

They loved the burgers so much and were planning on bringing the whole family there in the near future.

My choice is a little different. I chose "Sweet Mash of Mine" which reminded me of an old song Sweet Child O' Mine by Guns N Roses released in 1987 the year our son was born.

"She's got a smile that it seems to me/Reminds me of childhood memories/Where everything was as fresh as the bright blue sky (Sky)/Now and then when I see her face/She takes me away to that special place/And if I stared too long I'd probably break down and cry." (Azlyrics)

When I told my tennis partners that the dish reminded me of the song they couldn't believe it. But I was sure what Yellow Brick Road chefs must have in mind when they created the dish.

The dish is made with mashed sweet potatoes spread on two pieces of toasts with basil pesto, fetta cheese and avocado, shredded cheese, black sesame, sun flower seeds and poached two eggs on top.

Sweet mash of mine is more appealing to me than burgers at breakfast but then again to each his own. We all dance to the beat of a different drums but as for me I'll go with Sweet Child O' Mine by Guns N' Roses, whom our son has been fascinated with since his childhood and has performed and composed songs with the former lead guitarist Bumble Foot.

That Saturday morning is a memorable one. I would go back another Saturday soon, to sit at the same spot, enjoy the breeze and watch a long queue of passengers waiting to board the MRT busses looking for their own sweet breakfast elsewhere while I while away mine at my Yellow Brick Road.

May be I'll ask for Sweet Child of Mine once more!
