In Sepang, the vigilant action of law enforcement thwarted potential chaos and destruction orchestrated by unruly individuals just before a anticipated football showdown between Selangor and Perak.
Comm Datuk Hussein Omar Khan, the Selangor police chief, recounted an incident near the MBPJ Stadium on the eve of the Malaysian Super League match. He disclosed that a group of hooligans, emerging from two black buses parked in the vicinity, launched an attack on five Selangor supporters and vandalized four cars.
"This was evidently premeditated. They arrived with malicious intent. The police swiftly apprehended their actions, intervening promptly to prevent further escalation," Comm Hussein stated following a community policing initiative to Sepang police headquarters.
Law enforcement successfully apprehended 20 men, ranging from 16 to 36 years old. Among the detainees, one was a suspect sought by the police in connection with a murder case in Kajang. Additionally, three individuals were linked to other criminal and drug-related offenses, while a dozen tested positive for drug substances.
All the suspects have been remanded until November 29, with an ongoing hunt for two more individuals and an investigation into the group's leader, responsible for orchestrating the assault.
In a separate development, Comm Hussein provided updates regarding the demise of a man discovered bound and charred near Lombong D'island in Puchong. Initially treated as a potential murder case, subsequent information, including statements from family members and witnesses, has led authorities to reclassify the incident as burn-related.
"Following insights from family and witnesses, the time of death appears to have been early Saturday. Moreover, witness reports align with the occurrence of the fire during the same timeframe," Comm Hussein elucidated.
The prompt and vigilant intervention by the police, coupled with thorough investigations, serves as a testament to their commitment to maintaining public safety and swiftly addressing criminal activities, ensuring that justice prevails and communities remain secure.
