High-ranking US and Iranian representatives are set to formally sign a framework agreement aimed at ending the war in Iran at a luxury resort overlooking Switzerland's Lake Lucerne on Friday.
The Swiss Foreign Ministry confirmed to dpa that the signing ceremony will take place in a hotel high on the Bürgenstock mountain ridge, which previously hosted a conference on Ukraine in 2024.
Pakistan, which has been mediating between Washington and Tehran, had previously suggested the signing could be held in Geneva.
Iran and the United States have already signed the preliminary agreement digitally.
Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi said a further round of negotiations is due to begin immediately after the signing on Friday.
These talks - intended to bring a lasting end to the war launched by the US and Israel at the end of February - should be concluded within 60 days, Araghchi said.
US President Donald Trump said on Monday that Vice President JD Vance would travel to Switzerland for the signing. On the Iranian side, parliamentary speaker and chief negotiator, Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf, is to attend, the Tasnim news agency cited Iran's Deputy Foreign Minister Majid Takht-Ravanchi as saying.
