Kota Kinabalu: Two men were jailed eight years and ordered given 10 strokes of the cane each for having syabu, respectively.

Azizan Fatin Abdul Karim, 23, and Nazri Sain, 25, were found guilty separately by Sessions Court Judge Noor Hafizah Mohd Salim who ruled that the prosecution had proven their cases beyond reasonable doubt. Azizan was convicted of having the 35.56gm of syabu at 9.15pm on Feb 27, 2020 by the roadside in front of the Bataras Supermarket in Papar.

Meanwhile, Nazri was convicted of having 32.52gm of syabu at 2.30pm on June 13, 2020 near a shop at Kg Gilang Laut, Tuaran.

They were charged separately under Section 39A(2) of the Dangerous Drugs Act which carries a jail term of between five years and life imprisonment, and whipping of at least 10 strokes, on conviction.
