PAPAR: The public has the opportunity to buy essential items at reasonable prices here to celebrate Aidilfitri until this Sunday.
Fama Sabah Acting Director Sebastian Chew said Fama, in collaboration with Papar Member of Parliament Datuk Armizan Mohd Ali, held the Syawal Madani 1444H/2023M Special Sales Programme to make it easier for people to get supplies as well as a platform for entrepreneurs to generate income.
“This is the 14th time this Syawal special sale is held at the same location. Only this year, we combine it with the Ramadan bazaar in the afternoon.
“We set the number of entries based on the number of lots provided by the Papar District Council, for which entrepreneurs need to apply first, then we will break down the entrepreneurs by category.

“The programme started last Tuesday and sales will be continued by entrepreneurs not celebrating Hari Raya until Sunday,” he said.
On the prices of the goods on sale, Sebastian said all entrepreneurs involved have been reminded to comply with the regulations set by the Domestic Trade and Costs of Living Ministry (KPDN) for controlled items listed under the Festive Season Maximum Price Control Scheme (SHMMP) for Hari Raya Aidilfitri 2023.
“Throughout our observation, the entrepreneurs charge reasonable prices because we told them that they cannot sell beyond the celling prices set by KPDN for the controlled goods,” he said.
Meanwhile, District Fama Officer Jeffri Mohd Zain said Fama Papar is targeting an income of RM300,000 throughout the programme.
“In 2007, the total income for this programme was RM200,000. Last year, it reached RM320,000. This year we are confident we can reach the target of RM300,000 and maybe even more,” he said.
