KOTA KINABALU: The Sabah Youth Council warns that raising the mandatory retirement age to 65 could worsen Sabah’s already high unemployment rate.
Its president, Abqaree Fawwaz Abekan, echoed concerns by the National Youth Council, noting that Sabah's unemployment stands at 7.7 pc, the highest in Malaysia, despite strong labour force participation.
He said extending the retirement age would hinder job opportunities for youths and urged the government to maintain the current retirement age.
