Barisan Nasional (BN) candidate Syed Hussien Syed Abdullah's resounding victory in the Mahkota state by-election is a clear indication of public support for the Unity Government, says Johor PKR chief, Syed Ibrahim Syed Noh. The overwhelming result not only signifies the electorate’s trust in the candidate but also reflects the strong collaboration among the parties within the Unity Government.

Syed Ibrahim noted that BN’s success showcases the unity between Pakatan Harapan (PH) and BN, who have worked together as a cohesive team. We function as a unified force within the Unity Government, with a clear division of tasks to assist one another while maintaining the PH spirit, he remarked. BN, being PH’s primary ally, has played a crucial role in maintaining this collaborative relationship.

He made these comments following the official announcement of the by-election results at Dewan Tunku Ibrahim Ismail. He was accompanied by Johor DAP chairman Liew Chin Tong, as they jointly celebrated the significant victory. Syed Ibrahim expressed his confidence that Syed Hussien, who also serves as the Kluang UMNO Youth Chief, would rise to the expectations of the Mahkota constituents. He emphasized that providing excellent service is crucial for upholding the reputation of the Unity Government, especially as the public continues to assess its performance.

Furthermore, Johor Pakatan Harapan has pledged its full cooperation with Syed Hussien. Syed Ibrahim assured that PH would remain ready to assist BN in serving the people of Mahkota. This close partnership, he believes, will solidify the government’s position and continue fostering goodwill between PH and BN supporters.

Kluang Member of Parliament, Wong Shu Qi, echoed these sentiments and described the victory as a rewarding moment for the Kluang Unity Team, which worked relentlessly throughout the campaign. Wong, who was the PH Coordinator for the Mahkota by-election, highlighted that the election result is a testament to the effectiveness of the Unity formula presented to the voters of Johor. She expressed her gratitude to the team for their hard work and dedication, which ultimately resonated with the public.

Wong also emphasized that this victory should serve as a stepping stone for continued cooperation between PH and BN. She hopes that the teamwork displayed during the campaign will extend beyond the by election, noting the benefits such collaboration brings to the residents of Johor. Wong’s message was clear the unity displayed should not be temporary but rather an ongoing effort to ensure progress and stability in the state.

In the by election, BN successfully defended the Mahkota seat with a substantial majority of 20,648 votes. Syed Hussien's opponent, Perikatan Nasional’s Mohamad Haizan Jaafar, garnered 7,347 votes. The margin of victory underscores the confidence that the people of Mahkota have placed in Syed Hussien and the Unity Government’s approach.

This landslide win reinforces the belief that the cooperative efforts of PH and BN have been embraced by the electorate, particularly in Johor. As both coalitions move forward, they remain committed to continuing their partnership to bring prosperity and development to the state and its people.
