The police summoned a bailing flood victim who took part in the #NyawaDuluBaruPRU protest on September 28 (Wednesday) to testify at the Dang Wangi district police headquarters (IPD).
Asri Balkis, one of the flood victims in Kampung Iboi stated that he came on Saturday only to bring a memorandum, to help the children and flood victims in his village.
"I don't even know what I'm being called for, but I just want to speak out! "We Baling people want to restore our living conditions back to normal," said Asri Balkis, also known as Pak Atan, in his statement.
Syed Saddiq Syed Abdul Rahman, Member of Parliament for Muar, also expressed his regret at the actions of the police, which also involved Pak Atan, who had to go back to Kuala Lumpur for questioning.
He posted this video on his Tiktok and said: "'Nak ugut saya, ugutlah. Tapi jangan ugut Pak Atan & mangsa banjit yang lain!"
Translated: If you want to pressurise or threaten me? Come on, bring it on! But don't pressurise/threaten Pak Atan & other flood victims! "
As I can see, he is very frustrated by the actions of the police to summon Pak Atan to Kuala Lumpur, and he even lashed out against the "pemimpin-peminpin yang gila kuasa" and said they should be investigated!
In the video, he even mentioned: "Pak Atan is only to submit the memorandums so that the Bailing flood issue can be brought to Parliament and to have further follow up actions!"
Syed Saddiq said, "This is NOT RIGHT that Pak Atan’s actions were bringing him trouble to the point where he was summoned and investigated by the police!"
As we know, bailing flood issues happen frequently this year, and "It has happened three times in a short period of time! - Syed Saddiq". I was wondering why a memorandum with suggestions and constructive criticism is not the thing that we want to have and want to hear in order to solve the issue?
