The defendant lawyer for Syed Saddiq Syed Abdul Rahman's breach of trust case proclaims that the ex-Minister of Sports and Youth did not use even a cent of the RM1 Million fund from Bersatu for his own benefit.

Gobind Singh Deo, the lawyer, stated that RM463,700 from the fund was used for Bersatu Youth’s charity activities during the Covid-19 crisis that occurs two years ago.

“The expenditure did not breach Bersatu’s constitution, which stated that the permissions of the high leaders of the party are only needed if the expenditure is over RM500,000,” says Gobind.

Gobind also stated at the end of the prosecution case, that the judge has stated that over RM600,000 were seized by the authorities while less than RM500,000 was spent.

Bersatu Youth’s treasury assistant who wants to be referred to as Rafiq is one of the witnesses in the prosecution case.

Free Malaysia Today (FMT) also reported that Gobind stated the witness gives a contradictory statement about whether the accused (Syed Saddiq) told him to ‘dispose' the RM1 million that had been kept by Rafiq after some amount of money was reported missing from Syed Saddiq house.

“Rafiq stated that he couldn’t remember clearly if the accused told him to ‘dispose’ the money,” says Gobind.

Gobind added that the witness finally admitted at the end that the term ‘dispose’ was only from his own understanding.

Previously, Deputy Prosecutor Wan Shaharuddin Wan Ladin said Syed Saddiq’s order for Rafiq to take out RM 1 million from Bersatu Youth’s accounts shows the accused bad intention.

The court had been told before that Rafiq and the Armada’s ex-deputy secretary, Ahmad Redzuan Mphamed Shafi, went to the CIMB KL Sentral branch, to take out the RM1 million from the youth wing’s account.

Rafiq stated that the order has been told by Syed Saddiq.

The witness stated that Syed Saddiq proclaims that the money is the result of his own effort.

“However, Rafiq and Redzuan say the money belonged to all members of Bersatu Youth’s, not the accused alone,” says Wan Shaharuddin.

Judicial Commissioner, Azhar Abdul Hamid confirmed the result date if Syed Saddiq needs to attend the court for self-defense on that prosecution will be on 28th October.

The MUDA President had four accusations regarding breach of trust and money laundering as well as, misappropriating RM1.12 million in funds, which belonged to Bersatu.

FMT also reportedly Saddiq was accused of using RM120K from the party fund for the 2018 general election, while the RM 1 million were used with the party's high leader’s permission.

Syed Saddiq also pleads to be innocent of two accusations of money laundering in the amount of RM100,000.
