PETALING JAYA: Bukit Bendera MP Syerleena Abdul Rashid has decided against contesting a place on DAP’s central executive committee at the party elections next month.

In a Facebook post, Syerleena said she had been asked by many if she would be contesting the election, and that several news reports had speculated on her candidacy.

“My heart and focus remain with the constituents of Bukit Bendera, and I want to continue dedicating my energy to the work we’ve started together,” she said.

Also named were Seputeh MP Teresa Kok, who was previously placed fourth; Tanjung MP Lim Hui Ying; youth and sports minister Hannah Yeoh; deputy communications minister Teo Nie Ching; Puchong MP Yeo Bee Yin; and Kluang MP Wong Shu Qi.
