Chelsea's appeal against their two-window transfer fan will be heard at the Court of Arbitration for Sport on Wednesday.
The Blues were slapped with the sanction in February of this year.
An appeal by Chelsea to FIFA revealed the club had 150 breaches of transfer regulations.
CAS will not make a decision on the day, but it is believed the verdict could come before January's transfer window.
Manager Frank Lampard has done well with his resources, with Chelsea sitting third on the Premier League table after 12 games.
The club declined to comment on the appeal when contacted by the Press Association on Tuesday.
