According to the declassified Royal Commission of Inquiry (RCI) report on Lembaga Tabung Haji (TH), internal investigations into some of the matters, including the sale of PT TH Indo Plantations (THIP), subsequently led to five former senior management members facing disciplinary action.
The report further states that an initial decision to dismiss some of the individuals was replaced with disciplinary actions that includes demotion, following appeals.
These individuals are now holding senior positions in TH Hotel & Residence Sdn Bhd, TH Plantations Bhd and TH Properties Sdn Bhd.
How does the top management convinced themselves in the 1st place that these 5 senior management staff had committed acts in the course of their work that warrants them to be dismissed?
According to this report by a business weekly in Nov 2018, TH said it had lodged police reports against its former Chairman, 2 former chief executive officers as well as four senior management staff, namely the chief operating officer, chief financial officer, legal adviser and senior general manager for corporate services and real estate.
For the ordinary rakyat, are we surprised that the initial decision to dismiss some of the senior management was replaced with disciplinary actions that includes demotion, following appeals?
Nope.
What the ordinary rakyat is asking now is, was any actions, taken against the former Chairman and the 2 former chief executive officers whom TH has lodged reports with the police also?
Or no actions were taken because they are no longer with TH?
If the AG is convinced that the charges against the President of UMNO is not tenable upon them receiving several comprehensive letters of representation from the accused, the top management in TH should not be any exception.
The ordinary rakyat are numb to all these horse and pony shows being undertaken.
Initial plans to dismiss replaced with demotion and the demotion is not from a senior position to the tasks of an internal despatch clerk or an accounts clerk but still within the senior ranks in the management hierarchy.
Probably the present management care to explain to the public, what are the drop in salaries earned by each of them prior to the demotion and their current position.
If it is just a drop of RM500 per month, that doesn’t constitute a punishment but merely a friendly pat on their back and a gentle warning to them not to repeat the same mistake and if they do, please do not leave any traces where it can be so easily discovered by an RCI.
Appeals?
Instead of demoting them, these same staff should be advanced and place to oversee Investors & PR for Tabung Haji.
They must have excellent analytical and reasoning skills that the top management and Board of Directors are convinced and agrees to just moving them to a lower ranked title than to terminate them.
