KUALA LUMPUR - Former Minister in the Prime Minister's Department (Religious Affairs) Datuk Seri Jamil Khir Baharom arrived at the Kuala Lumpur Court Complex early this morning to face charges linked to the explosive Royal Commission of Inquiry (RCI) report on Lembaga Tabung Haji (TH).
Dressed in a dark suit, the former Jerai Member of Parliament arrived at 7.40am. Proceedings are scheduled to begin at 9am before Sessions Court Judge Rosli Ahmad.
The Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) previously confirmed recommendations for three charges against Jamil Khir under Section 403 of the Penal Code for dishonest misappropriation of property.
The court appearance follows a high-profile investigation that saw Jamil Khir detained at MACC headquarters in Putrajaya on Sept 2. He was subsequently held under a seven-day remand before being released on bail on Sept 8.
The charges stem directly from the TH RCI report released on July 29, which uncovered systematic management flaws, hidden information, and suspicious transactions within the pilgrimage fund between 2014 and 2020.
