Kota Kinabalu: City Hall (DBKK) has entered into strategic partnership with a NGO and two private companies to address the growing environmental concerns about marine plastic pollution and electronic waste (e-waste).
Assistant Minister to the Chief Minister, who is also in charge of DBKK, Datuk Abidin Madingkir, said the cooperation will help DBKK deal with persistent problems such as floating plastic bottles in the sea, discarded cooking oil, and the rise in e-waste.
The initiative adds to ongoing efforts already undertaken by DBKK, including the deployment of a specialised mechanical boat (skimmer boat) to collect waste from coastal waters.
“The State Government has so far has provided allocation and one collection boat to DBKK, and will be providing two more in the near future.
