RANAU: The town’s Urban Wellbeing Committee (JKDB) is collaborating with the Ranau District Council (MDR), Sabah Veterinary Department and District Health Department to deal with the stray dogs woe here.

The collaboration was made in view of the perennial problem.

The Chairman of Ranau JKDB, Tan Eng Sing, when met, reminded the public not to disturb or approach the stray dogs.

“We request the cooperation of SPCA and Veterinarians or the Animal Department to cooperate and act positively to deal with the problem of dogs roaming around without owners so that they do not become victims of bites. Tan Eng Sing distributing awareness leaftlets with several officials.

“At the same time, the JKDB in collaboration with other government agencies will try to deal with the problem by giving awareness leaflets to the public including the owners of premises in the town area in the hope of reducing the risk of dog bites.”

Tan said this when met during a walkabout together with JKDB personnel, Veterinary Sabah staff and the MDR distributing leaflets to the public in Ranau town recently on Saturday.

Many recommend that the local authority (PBT) and MDR in collaboration with the animal lovers associations to find the best way to overcome the problem.
