Takaful pays RM503,651 business tithes to Sabah and three others

Kuala Lumpur: Takaful Ikhlas Family Berhad and Takaful Ikhlas General Berhad (Takaful Ikhlas), wholly-owned subsidiaries of MNRB Holdings Berhad, have presented business zakat (tithe) payments for the financial year ending March 31, 2022, to the Federal Territories Islamic Religious Council Zakat Collection Centre (PPZ-MAIWP).

Takaful Ikhlas Family Business Zakat, amounting to RM185,151.20, and Takaful Ikhlas General Business Zakat, totalling RM201,460.40, were presented by the Takaful Ikhlas Family Berhad president and chief executive officer (CEO), Muhammad Fikri Mohamad Rawi, and Takaful Ikhlas General Berhad president and CEO, Datuk Rudy Rodzila Che Lamin, to PPZ-MAIWP chairman, Tan Sri Dr Abdul Aziz Abdul Rahman.

Takaful Ikhlas, in a statement, said that the Minister in the Prime Minister’s Department (Religious Affairs), Senator Datuk Dr Mohd Na’im Mokhtar, also witnessed the tithe presentation ceremony held in Putrajaya recently.

“Takaful Ikhlas views presenting the business zakat to PPZ-MAIWP as an important annual responsibility, as part of the company’s efforts to contribute to the strengthening of the community through programmes and activities conducted by zakat centres across Malaysia,” read the statement.

For the financial year ended March 31, 2022, Takaful Ikhlas Family made tithe payments of RM462,878 to four institutions in the Federal Territories, Negeri Sembilan, Perak, and Perlis.

In addition, Takaful Ikhlas General paid RM503,651 in business tithes to four companies in the Federal Territory, Kelantan, Kedah, and Sabah, bringing the total amount of tithes paid by Takaful Ikhlas for the financial year ended March 31, 2022, to RM966,529.

It also said that making payments for business tithes is one of the platforms of the company to share the income gained, and it is in line with the principle of Takaful, which applies the concept of cooperation and helping other participants and the community.

“We hope that the business tithes from Takaful Ikhlas can help to ease the burden of the needy, and improve their economic situation,” it said.
