
Kota Kinabalu: Five men were penalised by the Magistrate Court’s, here, Wednesday for taking drugs.
Amirdin Ahmad, 36, Mohamad Zaidi Behu, 19, Nowell Junior Joeman, 43, Mohammad Asril, 31, and Hellmie Junan pleaded guilty before Magistrate Lovely Natasha Charles to taking syabu at different locations here between May 26 and July 19.
Amirdin, Zaidi, Nowell and Asril were each jailed seven months from their date of arrest.
Hellmie were jailed a month from the date of arrest on May 26 and fined RM1, 800 or another six months.

Read more The magistrate also ordered the five to undergo police supervision for two years upon their release.
The five were charged under Section 15 (1) of the Dangerous Drugs Act which provides for a fine of up to RM5, 000 or up to two years’ jail, on conviction.
Inspector Kelvan Elson Maik told the court that the five were tested positive at the police station.
Duty Counsel Lim Ming Zhoong @ Lawrence, representing Nowell, requested for a lenient sentence as Nowell is divorced with a child and currently unemployed.
Lim also represented Amirdin and requested for a lenient sentence as he was remorseful of his action.
Duty Counsel Carmen Khoo, representing Asrul and Zaidi, requested for a lenient sentence as Asrul is a general worker who is taking care of his grandmother and Zaidi was a first offender and works as a fruit seller.
Unrepresented, Helmie requested leniency as he was a first-time offender who is taking care of his mother and has a hospital appointment for surgery.
Kelvan applied for a deterrence sentence.
