Two victims died from fire-related injuries and another from smoke inhalation in the Tambun house fire that claimed three family members
IPOH: Post-mortems on the three victims of a fire at Persiaran Desa Tambun 4, Taman Desa Tambun, here early this morning found that two of them died from fire-related injuries.
Ipoh district police chief ACP Muhammad Najib Hamzah said another victim died from smoke inhalation.
“The cause of the fire is still under investigation. The public is advised not to make any speculation or disseminate unverified information and to respect the sensitivity of the victims’ families,” he said in a statement.
He said the fire involved a two-storey terrace house and was believed to have occurred at about 3.53 am.
The Royal Malaysia Police (PDRM) and the Malaysian Fire and Rescue Department (JBPM) rushed to the scene to secure the area and carry out firefighting operations after receiving a report about the incident.
The fire was extinguished at about 6 am.
Three family members, comprising an elderly couple and their grandson, died in the incident.
They were Raja Ahmad Raja Ali, 70, Zaitun Mohamed, 64, and their 18-year-old grandson, Nik Abdurrahman Azimin Harith Helal.
Their remains were laid to rest in the same grave at the Tambun Islamic Cemetery here at about 8.25 pm tonight after the post-mortems were completed.
