The Government of Tamil Nadu on Wednesday revoked its order appointing astrologer Rickey Radhan Pandit Vettrivel as Officer on Special Duty (OSD-Political) to Chief Minister C Joseph Vijay, less than 24 hours after the appointment was announced.The decision came amid sharp criticism from Opposition parties as well as sections within the Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK).
The controversy echoed in the State Assembly, where leaders, including Premalatha Vijayakanth, questioned the appointment of an astrologer to a key political administrative post.
Facing mounting backlash, the Vijay-led administration swiftly withdrew the Government Order with immediate effect.
Vettrivel, known for his role as an astrologer and TVK spokesperson, had been assigned to oversee political affairs in the Chief Minister’s Office before the government reversed its decision.
Official sources said the order stood cancelled immediately, while no replacement for the post has been announced so far.
