TAMPARULI: Repair works on the Tamparuli Low Level Crossing (LLC) Bridge, which connects the outskirts with Tamparuli town, have now reached nearly 90 per cent.
The bridge is expected to be reopened to the public in early October.
Political Secretary to the Ministry of Works and Utilities, Dr Bonaventure Boniface, said repair works on the bridge’s support pillars had been fully completed, allowing subsequent works to proceed smoothly.
He said rehabilitation works on the bridge surface were currently being carried out.
“Installation of gantries at both ends of the bridge is scheduled to begin next week,” he said.
Dr Bonaventure, who is also Parti Besatu Sabah (PBS) Tamparuli Division Chief, said based on the current progress, the Public Works Department (JKR) expected the bridge to be reopened to users by early October.
He urged the public to remain patient and cooperate throughout the rehabilitation period to ensure safety and the smooth implementation of the project.
The Tamparuli LLC Bridge was closed early this year to facilitate structural inspection and repair works after the bridge experienced subsidence, which went viral on social media.
