KUALA LUMPUR – Tan Sri (Dr.) Mohamad Salim Fateh Din was today conferred the Honorary Doctor of Management by Multimedia University (MMU), a recognition of his influential role in shaping Malaysia’s digital and communications landscape.
The Chairman of the Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission (MCMC) received the honour during MMU’s 2025 Convocation Ceremony, which marked the graduation of 4,187 students.
MMU President, Prof. Datuk Dr. Mazliham Mohd Su’ud, described Salim as a visionary whose leadership has played a key part in advancing the nation’s digital ecosystem.
“Tan Sri Salim’s stewardship at the MCMC has been pivotal in driving Malaysia’s digital growth. His contributions reflect MMU’s core mission in technology and communications, making this honour especially fitting,” he said.
The convocation also witnessed another significant milestone for the university — the installation of former Chief Justice of Malaysia, Tan Sri Richard Malanjum, as MMU’s new Pro-Chancellor.
Mazliham said the appointment brings “unparalleled experience and stature” to the university, noting that Richard’s lifelong commitment to justice and public service aligns with MMU’s values.
Adding to the ceremony’s landmark moments, MMU conferred the title of its first Emeritus Professor upon Tan Sri Prof. Dr. Ghauth Jasmon, former Universiti Malaya Vice-Chancellor and Founding President of MMU.
“Honouring Tan Sri Ghauth as our first Emeritus Professor is a proud moment for the MMU community,” Mazliham said.
“His leadership and vision continue to inspire generations of academics and students.”
The 2025 Convocation Ceremony thus marked a historic day for MMU — celebrating academic achievement while recognising national figures whose leadership has shaped Malaysia’s judicial, digital, and educational landscapes. - December 6, 2025
