Police arrested three main suspects linked to a fatal parang attack at a Tangkak restaurant, ending a month-long manhunt.

TANGKAK: Police have arrested three main suspects, who had been on the run for more than a month, to assist in investigations into the fatal parang attack on a man at a restaurant in Bukit Kangkar on March 13.

Tangkak police chief Supt Roslan Mohd Talib said the suspects, aged between 24 and 32, were arrested at three different locations last night around Jasin, Melaka, following intelligence gathering and tip-offs.

He confirmed the arrests, which he said could help them resolve the murder case.

“Yes, I confirm that the three main suspects were arrested last night,” he said when contacted today.

Earlier, the media reported that police had previously detained 10 individuals to assist in investigations related to the incident. However, all of them were released on police bail after their statements were recorded.

In the incident, the victim, 38-year-old Tong Wei Sheng, died shortly after arriving at hospital with severe injuries to his arms, legs and back after being slashed by three masked men wielding machetes.
