Taobao Malaysia has launched its new Bahasa Malaysia interface, allowing users across the country to shop in Bahasa Malaysia, English, or Chinese. This latest addition aims to make the platform more accessible and intuitive for Malaysian users, furthering Taobao’s commitment to delivering a localised and rewarding online shopping experience.

The update is part of a broader effort to improve the user journey through enhanced functionality and language support. Shoppers can now enjoy features such as Image Search, which uses artificial intelligence to let users upload or snap a photo to discover visually similar products. In addition, daily check-in rewards and purchase incentives at selected sellers offering free shipping are available through the Coins Cashback programme. First-time users can also take advantage of special deals under the Exclusive New User Perk, with prices as low as RMB 1 (approximately RM0.62).

“At Taobao, we reaffirm our commitment to connecting all Malaysians through a platform that is not only more localised but also more secure and service-driven. From the introduction of our tri-lingual interface and enhanced logistics support to robust safety measures and irresistible promotional deals, every upgrade is designed to offer Malaysians a smoother, safer, and more rewarding online shopping experience,” Jess Lew, Country Head of Taobao Malaysia, said.

In addition to platform enhancements, Taobao has supported local digital entrepreneurship through initiatives like the LiveNOW livestream KOL training programme. Launched in partnership with state governments and training institutions in 2020 and 2022, the programme helped train more than 500 emerging livestreamers and digital entrepreneurs, with a focus on supporting low-income groups in discovering new opportunities in the digital economy.

“At Taobao, we remain deeply committed to supporting our local community, with a strong emphasis on strengthening Malaysia’s e-commerce ecosystem.

“At the same time, we are dedicated to making our customers’ online shopping experience on Taobao more efficient and enjoyable by continuously enhancing platform capabilities and localised services, particularly through a wider selection of fashion and home furniture categories with more affordable price and air shipping as fast as five working days, which ultimately uplifts their quality of life,” Lew said.
