Taobao Malaysia has announced plans to roll out a Bahasa Malaysia interface for its app by June 2025. According to Taobao, this is part of its localization efforts to support the apps growing popularity among Malaysians.
In a statement, the e-commerce platform said that as of April 16, 2025, Taobao is the second-most downloaded app on the iOS shopping app chart in Malaysia, indicating strong interest and trust in the platform.
Taobao Malaysia’s country head Jess Lew adds that a Bahasa Malaysia interface will make the app more accessible and user-friendly for Malaysians. “(It) reinforces our platform’s commitment to providing every Malaysian user with a more accessible, seamless and worry-free shopping experience,” she said.

Taobao is a Chinese e-commerce platform headquartered in Hangzhou, China. It introduced an English interface in September 2024, which may explain its growing popularity in recent months. In addition to the English interface, the app also supports AI-powered translation and customer support in English and Chinese.
“With English product descriptions, prices displayed in ringgit and a simplified interface, Malaysian users can now browse and shop more easily than ever,” Taobao Malaysia said.
