Moderate rain in Tarn Taran on Wednesday brought much-needed relief from the prevailing heat, while also being described as beneficial for crops. Mehar Singh Chutala, a resident of Chutala village, said the rainfall was being welcomed across the region.
He added that the dense fog and haze that had lingered in the sky for over a month during the wheat harvesting season had now cleared, bringing relief to those suffering from respiratory ailments.
He said the rain would benefit all crops, including fodder and vegetables. Chutala also noted that it was particularly good for the maize crop.
Reports of light to moderate rainfall were received from several parts of the district, including Chohla Sahib, Sarhali, Sarai Amanat, Khalra, Khemkaran, Valtoha, Harike and Khadoor Sahib.
Farmer Shingara Singh of Sabhra village said the period between wheat harvesting and paddy transplantation was suitable for sowing short-duration crops.
