Kota Kinabalu: A task force will be established to collect undeclared sales tax, said Finance Minister II Datuk Seri Masidi Manjun.

Masidi, who is also Local Government and Housing Minister, said the task force involves the State Finance Minister, Malaysian Palm Oil Board (MPOB) and the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC).

“I take serious note of the case involving the forgery of sales tax declarations by companies to the State Finance Ministry which was mentioned during an advisory service session by the Sabah MACC,” he said after a meeting with MACC, here, Friday.

“The State Government is committed to preventing this from happening again.”

To this end, measures such as improving the enforcement and collection processes will be done including amendments, if necessary, to laws and regulations to ensure that leakages do not occur and the interests of the State Government are safeguarded.
