Kota Kinabalu: A task force under the Local Government and Housing Ministry will inspect People’s Housing Project (PPR) homes in the State and evict tenants found to be ineligible for the housing aid.

Local Government and Housing Minister Datuk Seri Masidi Manjun said this is to ensure that only the truly eligible benefit from the assistance.

“This is not a popular action. And I hope they will understand. Our intention is not to disrupt their lives, but to ensure that the PPR goes to those who need it more,” he told the State Legislative Assembly Tuesday.

He was responding to Moyog Assemblyman Datuk Darell Leiking who asked about hearsay on such incidents happening at PPR Kibabaig, where many applications for homes there were rejected.

Masidi confirmed there were ineligible tenants, who managed to acquire PPR homes through dubious means.
