TAWAU: The Tawau DAP Branch has launched mobile voter registration checking counters since Nov 3 to help residents verify their voter information ahead of the Nov. 29 State election.
Sabah DAP Committee member and Tawau Municipal Council councillor Philip Yap Wui Lip said the initiative aims to assist residents, particularly senior citizens and young voters, in checking their voter registration numbers and polling centres conveniently.
The mobile counters operate daily from 8am to 11am at three locations: beside Village Boy’s Cafe, Pasar Sin On, and the Tawau DAP headquarters (in front of Dr Lilian Hong’s Clinic), and are closed on Sundays.
Philip emphasised that voter registration is a prerequisite to exercising voting rights.
“Through these mobile counters, we want to help more Tawau residents check their voter status so that on the Nov. 29 polling day, everyone can fulfil their responsibility as Malaysian citizens,” he said.
Residents are reminded to bring their identification cards (IC) and to encourage family and friends to check their voter information.
The public can also verify the electoral roll via the Election Commission website at [mysprsemak.spr.gov.my](https://mysprsemak.spr.gov.my/semakan/daftarPemilih).
“By entering the IC number and security code, the site will display the polling centre and voter registration number,” Philip added.
