TAWAU: The Tawau flood mitigation project Phase 1A Packages 3 and 4 is 46 per cent completed. The project started in 2019 and is expected to be ready in 2024.

Tawau Member of Parliament Lo Su Fui said this was stated by Natural Resources, Environment and Climate Change Minister Nik Nazmi Nik Ahmad in his answer to an oral question in the Dewan Rakyat recently.

“The Minister informed that the contractor is actively carrying out construction work at the site and the State Drainage and Irrigation Department is monitoring the work progress,” said Lo, who asked the Minister to state the progress of the project which was approved under the 11th Malaysia Plan.
