Tawau man held for death threats against ex-wife

TAWAU: Police arrested a jobless local who allegedly issued death threats against a trader who is his former wife at Bandar Sri Indah (BSI), Batu 10 Jalan Apas, here on Tuesday.

District police chief ACP Jasmin Hussin said the 32-year-old local was detained at the District Criminal Investigation Division office at about 11.30pm the same day.

“A report was lodged by a 35-year-old woman trader who is a foreign national,” he said on Wednesday.

Jasmin said based on the report, the suspect approached her while she was operating her stall at the BSI trading site at about 7.40pm in an angry state and demanded she immediately return home.

During the incident, the suspect was alleged to have threatened to kill the woman and another man at the location if she did not leave.

“The victim immediately lodge a report, but the suspect attempted to follow and obstruct her, up to the gates of the station,” he said.

Police detained the suspect and opened an investigation under Section 506 of the Penal Code for criminal intimidation.
