TAWAU: A man who injured his wife and is suspected of threatening her with an axe and a knife was arrested in Kg Haji Matahir, here.
Tawau District Police Chief ACP Jasmin Hussin said the 44-year-old was arrested following a report lodged by the wife, who was concerned for her safety.
“The suspect’s behaviour was said to have stemmed from a misunderstanding at their residence,” he said, Saturday.

“The victim’s husband attempted to flee upon realising the police’s presence but failed and was apprehended after a struggle,” he said.
Police also found an axe and a knife believed to be linked to the case under investigation. The case is being investigated under Section 506 of the Penal Code and Section 18A of the Domestic Violence Act 1994.
