TAWAU: Police here have drawn praise after helping to escort an ambulance carrying a man believed to be suffering a heart attack to the hospital to ensure he received immediate treatment recently.

A video capturing the tense moments went viral on social media, attracting widespread discussion among netizens and recording 167.4 million views after being uploaded by a TikTok user five days ago.

District police chief ACP Jasmin Hussin confirmed that police had viewed the three-minute and 32-second viral video and verified that members of his team were involved in assisting a patient believed to be experiencing a heart attack.

He said the footage showed swift action by personnel from the Traffic Investigation and Enforcement Division (BSPT) of the Tawau District Police Headquarters who helped facilitate the patient’s urgent transfer for treatment.

Jasmin said BSPT personnel, together with members of the Malaysian Civil Defence Force (APM), escorted the ambulance and cleared traffic along the route to ensure the victim reached the hospital quickly and safely for emergency treatment.
