A group representing taxi drivers has announced plans to hold a rally titled Kekal Anwar on September 27 at Dataran Merdeka, aimed at showing public support for Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim and the unity government.

The rally, organised by Gabungan Teksi SeMalaysia, seeks to reaffirm confidence in Anwar’s leadership and the current administration’s reform agenda.

Believes Anwar has the vision

According to Free Malaysia Today, peaking at a press conference today, the group’s president Kamarudin Hussain said the taxi community believes Anwar possesses the vision and determination to guide Malaysia toward a more equitable and prosperous future.

We may only represent a small segment of society, but we believe our voice and presence will have an impact not only within the country but also in the eyes of the international community,” said Kamarudin, who is also a member of PKR and the former Selayang PKR division chief.

Political stability is vital for economic growth

He stressed that political stability is vital for sustaining economic growth and improving the people’s quality of life.

As part of the initiative, Kamarudin extended a formal invitation to Anwar — who is also the president of PKR — to attend the rally in person.

He also called upon students, NGOs, and political allies under Pakatan Harapan and Barisan Nasional to join in and show a united front in support of the government.

The announcement comes just days after the “Turun Anwar” rally, led by PAS Youth, drew a reported 20,000 attendees at the same venue on Saturday.
