- Taylor Swift has released the music video for her new song “Patient Zero”, taken from her extended album The Life of a Showgirl: The Encore, featuring actors Dakota Johnson and Colin Farrell in a narrative about a toxic relationship.
- The music video premiered at the MTV Video Music Awards on Sunday, where Swift accepted the inaugural Artist Director Honor, making her the most decorated performer in VMA history with 33 wins.
- In the video, Swift portrays the ghostly ex-partner of Farrell's character who returns to warn Johnson's character about his dangerous behaviour and past actions.
- “Patient Zero” was launched alongside three other new songs, titled Cleveland!, Pink Clouding, and Babylon, as part of the singer's extended album release earlier in the week.
- Although the four-song release received mixed reviews, including a two-star rating from The Independent's music editor Roisin O'Connor, “Patient Zero” has been praised as a standout favourite.
