  • Teacher Ashley Atkin has been banned from the classroom after arriving at Horn's Mill Primary School in Cheshire smelling of alcohol.
  • Colleagues reported Ms Atkin appearing "dazed", "staggering", and smelling strongly of alcohol during a school assembly.
  • Ms Atkin, who had been at the school about a month, admitted to drinking a bottle and a glass of wine the night before.
  • A Teaching Regulation Agency investigation found her conduct brought the profession into disrepute.
  • She is now prohibited indefinitely from teaching at any school, sixth form college, or children's home in England.
