Teacher convicted of having sexual relationships with pupils in late 1980s

  • Former chemistry teacher Sally-Anne Bowen, 65, has been convicted of seven counts of indecent assault involving two teenage pupils at an all-boys school in north London during the late 1980s.
  • A jury at Harrow Crown Court returned majority guilty verdicts on Thursday after deliberating for six hours and 29 minutes.
  • The trial heard evidence that one victim was abused between 20 and 30 times when he was aged 14 or 15, while a former pupil described Bowen displaying sexually provocative behaviour in the classroom.
  • Bowen, who claimed during her defence that the allegations were a total fabrication, showed no emotion as the verdicts were delivered.
  • Bowen, from Hemel Hempstead in Hertfordshire, is due to be sentenced at Harrow Crown Court on 20 November.
