- Miss Surr, 45, also failed to inform Shirebrook Academy in Derbyshire that she was in a relationship with a registered sex offender, despite having multiple opportunities to do so.
- The school launched an investigation in January 2024 after receiving an email from a member of the public expressing concern about her relationship.
- She admitted in June 2024 that she had been in a year-long relationship with a registered offender and was aware of his record, but had not disclosed it as she was unsure if the relationship would continue.
- A Teaching Regulation Agency panel found her conduct amounted to serious misconduct, citing her dishonesty and lack of appreciation for the potential risk to the pupil, leading to an indefinite teaching ban with a three-year review period.
