KENINGAU: A male teacher was seriously injured after his motorcycle skidded and fell into the Nahanakan River around noon on Friday.
Keningau Police Chief, Supt. Yampil Anak Garai, said the teacher, from SK Pengaraan Nabawan, was crossing a village-built bridge when he lost control and fell, with his motorcycle pinning him down.
"The victim suffered injuries to his right ear, left jaw, and right ankle. His colleagues later rescued him and brought him back to school," he said.
Yampil said they attempted to arrange an airlift with the Royal Malaysia Police Air Operations Unit, but heavy rain prevented the helicopter from flying from Kota Kinabalu. Flooding also blocked land routes.
The following day, a Sabah Air helicopter successfully transported him to Keningau Hospital, where he is now in stable condition.
