Teacher remanded over alleged attempted murder of wife

A MALE teacher has been remanded for six days by the Magistrates’ Court in Balik Pulau, Penang after he.

The wife, also a teacher, reportedly survived the attack.

The 30-year-old suspect will be held until 4 September under a remand order issued by Magistrate Zaireen Zainudin, to facilitate investigations for attempted murder under Section 307 of the Penal Code.

During the remand proceedings, the suspect was represented by solicitors Yazid Khairul Azman and Muhaimin Hashim.

He arrived at the Balik Pulau Court Complex at around 9.13am in a police vehicle, dressed in a dark blue and red sports jersey with black track bottoms.

The alleged incident is believed to have been triggered by financial stress. According to earlier media reports, the suspect attacked his wife at approximately 6am.

Barat Daya District Police Chief, Assistant Commissioner Sazalee Adam, was quoted as saying that early investigations indicated the suspect had taken out bank loans for stock market investments and was also servicing instalment payments for consumer goods purchased through an e-commerce platform. - August 30, 2025
