JERTIH, May 27 — A male teacher has been remanded for two days starting today to assist in the investigation of a sexual misconduct case involving a secondary school student in Besut.

The remand order against the 42-year-old man was issued by Magistrate Nur Liyana Md Zukri at the Besut Magistrate’s Court here to allow an investigation under Section 14 (a) of the Sexual Offences Against Children Act 2017 to be conducted.

Previously, Besut district police chief Superintendent Mohd Rozaime Ab Rahman said that the teacher, from a secondary school in the Besut district, was arrested around 3 pm yesterday following a police report made by two students.

The issue of a male teacher allegedly molesting a male student in Besut went viral after a Facebook account owner posted about it a few days ago. — Bernama
