
Tuaran: United Kinabalu Progressive Organisation (Upko) Malaysia has set up a special committee to study the rationale for adding other ethnic dialects in the teaching of the KadazanDusun language in schools.
The establishment of this special authority received positive views and support from Education Minister Fadhlina Sidek during a recent discussion with several stakeholders.
Upko President Datuk Ewon Benedik said a committee, consisting of a group of KadazanDusun and Murut language experts, ethnic associations, KDCA and the KadazanDusun Language Foundation, is working to examine the rationale for teaching other major ethnic languages of KadazanDusun Murut (KDM) in schools.
Ewon said, so far this year, KadazanDusun Language subjects are taught in 403 schools in 21 districts throughout the state.
