‘Team Elevate’ enters Matta Election Race

Kota Kinabalu: A line-up of industry veterans has emerged under the banner “Team Elevate” to contest key positions in the upcoming Malaysian Association of Tour and Travel Agents (Matta) Executive Council election for the 2026–2029 term.

Carrying the tagline “Advancing the Industry, Empowering Members”, the team will seek members’ mandates at the 51st Matta Annual General Meeting, which will be held at the World Trade Centre Kuala Lumpur on June 27 at 10am.

Leading the slate is Datuk Tan Kok Liang of Borneo Trails Tours & Travel Sdn Bhd, who is contesting for the presidency. He is joined by Saravanan Ramachandran, also known as Ganneesh Ramaa, of Destination Explore Sdn Bhd, who is standing for the post of Deputy President.

Tee Yih Fung of My Tourism Travel Sdn Bhd will contest the position of Honorary Treasurer.

Team Elevate has also fielded candidates for all vice-presidential portfolios, reflecting the broad spectrum of Malaysia’s tourism industry: Haji Sharulnezam Mohd Daud (Falcon Travel & Tours Sdn Bhd) – Vice President, Umrah & Haji Yap Sook Ling (Asian Overland Services Tours & Travel Sdn Bhd) – Vice President, Inbound & Domestic Brendon Chai (Sri America Travel Corporation Sdn Bhd) – Vice President, Outbound Emma Tan May Jin (Peter Stuyvesant Travel Sdn Bhd) – Vice President, Air Transportation Thoo Choy (Jimmy) (Pearl Holiday (M) Travel & Tour Sdn Bhd) – Vice President, Land Transportation Lawrence Chin (Tabin Wildlife Holidays Sdn Bhd) – Vice President, Research & Technology Mohd Azlan Saleh (Dynamic Tours Travel) – Vice President, Education & TrainingWhile the team has yet to unveil its full manifesto, its campaign theme underscores a commitment to raising industry standards, strengthening support for members, and fostering innovation across the travel and tourism ecosystem.

The upcoming election is expected to be a significant milestone for Matta as the association sets its direction for the next three years amid evolving challenges and opportunities in Malaysia’s tourism recovery and growth.
