Malaysia’s Team Rey Young made an impressive debut at the Mobile Legends: Bang Bang Women’s International 2026, reaching the quarterfinals for a top-eight finish at the Esports World Cup in Paris.
KUALA LUMPUR, July 22: Malaysia’s Team Rey Young reached the quarterfinals of the Mobile Legends: Bang Bang Women’s International 2026 (MWI) on their debut at the Esports World Cup (EWC) in Paris.
The team secured a top-eight finish after progressing through Malaysia’s domestic qualification pathway via the RedOne MLBB Ladies International Invitational.
Their run from national champions to a quarterfinal appearance on the global stage highlighted the strength of Malaysia’s women’s MLBB development pathway.
“This MWI gave us a lot of experience and was a great opportunity to learn,” said Team Rey Young coach Divaan ‘Frost’ Nagaraju.
“We had the chance to explore a lot of new things, meet other teams and share ideas with them, which had a positive impact on all of us.”
Team Rey Young advanced from the group stage with consecutive 2-0 victories before their campaign ended in the quarter-finals.
Meanwhile, Team Vitality successfully defended their title after defeating Natus Vincere PH (NAVI PH) 4-2 in the Grand Final to claim their fourth MWI championship.
The victory earned Team Vitality US$150,000 in prize money and 1,000 Club Championship points.
Viorelle ‘Vival’ Chen was named the SONY MVP after Team Vitality’s title-winning campaign, earning her second MWI MVP award and an additional US$25,000 in prize money.
Geltik Cyber Team finished third after defeating Galaxy Phoenix 3-0.
The 2026 MWI was held as part of the first international edition of the Esports World Cup, which features 25 tournaments and more than 2,000 players from 200 clubs representing over 100 countries.
